Job Description

It is an exciting time for the RAIN RFID Alliance – our industry connected more than 29 billion items in 2021, has sustained 30+% year-over-year unit-volume growth, and yet only 1% of the connectable items are connected today. And it is a great opportunity for a visionary leader to lead the Alliance to its next stage of growth. We are looking for a new president to be that leader, replacing our outgoing president who is retiring after 8 years at the helm.

The RAIN RFID Alliance is a global organisation promoting the universal adoption of RAIN RFID across markets from supply chain and logistics to healthcare. Enterprises use RAIN RFID to identify, locate, authenticate and engage items they manufacture, transport and sell. RAIN RFID itself is a battery-free wireless technology that can identify up to 1000 items per second, at a 10 meter range, without line of sight, for pennies per item.

The Alliance has more than 160 member companies from across the globe. And with such an exciting and growing opportunity, the Alliance itself is poised to grow, building on its many successes.

REPORTS TO: The board of directors, elected by the membership

FUNCTION: Has authority and responsibility to manage the Alliance towards its goals, administer its working groups and functions, and cooperate with other industry associations and standards bodies. In her/his work, the president is supported by the board of directors, working group leaders and an experienced management company that manages the finances, marketing, events and membership services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the RAIN Alliance to reach its Strategic Goals by:
    • Organising and leading the work of the workgroups;
    • Ensuring the staffing and resourcing necessary to reach the Strategic Goals;
    • Drives change and implements defined/agreed Strategy by implementing the right metrics/milestones/KPIs…bringing people collectively together.
  • Secure the continuity of the Alliance by:
    • Managing the Alliance budget and cash flow;
    • Facilitating the yearly strategy update in cooperation with the board of directors;
    • Managing the long-term fiscal planning;
    • Assuring that working documents, meeting minutes, agreements and other information and data are securely stored and accessible by the chairperson, treasurer and the secretary.
  • Perform such duties of the office of president, secretary, and/or treasurer (as defined in the RAIN Alliance Bylaws) as the board of directors may delegate
  • Other duties as specified by the board of directors, or its chairperson, as applicable
  • High-level coordination of global events
  • Represent the RAIN alliance with industry groups and professional associations including GS1, Axia, DoseID, AIM and others.
  • Manage Virtual Inc to ensure the RAIN Alliance is working smoothly and efficiently
  • Travel to the US, Europe, and Asia required 3-6 times a year

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous management experience with fiscal accountability required
  • Demonstrates effective negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Maintains professional and positive demeanour
  • Works within the standards of ethical business practice
  • RFID/Auto-ID sector knowledge and passion/drive for it
  • Global exposure working with multicultural teams and abilities to communicate on all levels
