A new trend has made its way to social media platforms: Women cut  open a Victoria’s Secret tag and pull out a metal-like tag and claim it is a tracking chip. The post includes a photo of a tag that says RFID on it and urges users to check their tags from Victoria’s Secret for tracking devices. 

Chips are in tags for inventory purposes, not tracking customers

RFID technology is commonly used in retail stores for inventory purposes. Retailers using this technology include Victoria’s Secret, Lululemon, Macy’s, Levi’s, Nike and more, according to IMPINJ, a platform that uses RFID data to help businesses.
